About this fashion and my experience in Japan...
Um estilo de moda japonesa que admiro, mas que não costumo usar, é o Gyaru. Tenho um profundo respeito pelas garotas dos anos 90 que começaram a fazer tudo o que a sociedade da época não aprovava: bronzear a pele, descolorir o cabelo, usar roupas curtas, usar salto alto, ocupar espaço e ousar na maquiagem.
Acho interessante como a subcultura delas evoluiu, como ser uma ganguro ou yamamba significava o compromisso máximo com a moda, como a dança (para-para) era algo que unia as garotas, como elas tinham suas próprias gírias... e como as coisas mudaram - como o estilo gyaru estabeleceu a hiperfeminilidade e se tornou uma grande tendência, criando o visual elaborado dos anos 2000 que lembrava princesas caminhando em meio a rosas e strass (olá, Hime-gyaru!), como a Liz Lisa era a marca que a maioria das gyarus amava, e hoje em dia, ver o estilo diluído (de certa forma), mas ainda ridiculamente popular (ryosangata?) e ainda vendendo muito no Shibuya 109.
One style of japanese fashion that I admire but don't really wear is Gyaru. I have a deep respect from the girls back in the 90s who began doing everything their society didn't like at the time: tanning their skin, bleaching their hair, wearing short clothes, wearing high heels, taking up space and being bold in their makeup.
I find it interesting how their subculture evolved, how being a ganguro or yamamba meant the ultimate commitment with a fashion, how the dance (para-para) was a thing that connected the girlies together, how they had their own slang... and how things changed - how gyaru stablished the hyperfemininity and it became a huge trend, creating decorated look of the 2000s that resembled princesses walking in pink and roses and rhinestones (hello, Hime-gyaru!), how Liz Lisa was the brand most girly gyarus loved, and nowadays, to see the style watered down (kinda) but still ridiculously popular (ryosangata?) and still selling a lot at Shibuya 109.
Para mim, o estilo gyaru parece ser muito mais focado em maquiagem e atitude, em comparação com o lolita (que prioriza muito mais as roupas do que a maquiagem ou a atitude). Ainda sou iniciante em maquiagem em geral, e ter dificuldade para enxergar sem óculos é um problema a mais para mim, mas mesmo assim admiro muito o estilo gyaru!
Gyaru seems to me like a way more makeup and attitude based style, in comparison to lolita (way more clothes than makeup or attitude). I am still very beginner at makeup in general, and not seeing well without glasses is an extra problem for me, but I still admire the gyaru style a lot!
Há 10 anos eu já tinha essa admiração, mas não tinha orçamento para experimentar um novo estilo, então pedi a amigas que me dessem algumas dicas de estilo e fizessem minha maquiagem (foto). Meu visual talvez não tenha ficado perfeito, mas eu realmente queria fazer algo parecido no futuro... Então, em dezembro passado, quando estive em Tóquio, fui visitar a Meca das Gyaru, quero dizer, o Shibuya 109, o prédio que concentra quase todas as lojas de roupas gyaru.
10 years ago I already had this admiration, but none of the budget to try a new style, so I had friends that gave me a couple styling tips and made my makeup (pic). My look was maybe not super good, but I really wanted to do something similar in the future... So last december when I was in Tokyo, I went to visit the Gyaru Mecca, I mean, Shibuya 109, the building that has almost all gyaru shops concentrated.
Eu vi mais garotas usando esse estilo feminino (saias curtas, saltos bonitinhos, meia-calça e às vezes polainas, casacos fofos, lacinhos em tudo e maquiagem muito linda, às vezes com e às vezes sem lentes de contato) mais do que qualquer outro estilo em Tóquio. A maior parte das meninas parecia estar entre 17 e 23 anos, mas sou péssima em adivinhar idades, de todo o modo. Pareceu popular o suficiente para mencionar. A maior parte das cores usadas eram branco, rosa clarinho, rosa e o eventual preto ou cor de vinho. De acordo com minhas pesquisas, isso podia ter sido tanto Gyaru, quanto Jirai-kei quanto Ryosangata / 量産型, mas era inverno e todo mundo tava de casaco, então não sei dizer. Abaixo segue uma colagem de fotos para ilustrar isso; obviamente, eu não fotografei pessoas aleatórias na rua.
I saw more girls wearing this girly style (short skirts, cute heels, tights and sometimes legwarmers, lovely coats, ribbons on everything and really pretty makeup, sometimes with contact lenses, sometimes without them) than any other style in Tokyo. The girls all seemed to be between 17-23 years old, but I'm terrible at guessing ages anyway. It felt popular enough to be mentioned. Most of the colors worn were white, light pink, pink and the occasional black or burgundy. According to my research, this could have been either Gyaru, Jirai-kei and Ryosangata / 量産型, but it was winter and everybody had coats on, so I couldn't really tell. Below is a picture collage to illustrate that, I obviously didn't take pictures of random people on the street.
Não uso lolita diariamente, e admito que às vezes quero coisas que são um pouco mais fáceis de desaparecer na multidão, mas não quero só pegar um jeans e camiseta. As roupas gyaru que eu escolhi são um mix de 'isso não é estranho demais pra ser considerado moda alternativa' e 'isso é muito mais fofo do que qualquer coisa que eu posso achar em lojas normais lá onde eu moro'. Então, essas foi as coisas que peguei pra mim:
I am not a daily lolita, and I admit that sometimes I want things that are easier to wear and blend in a little, but I don't want just to slap jeans and a t-shirt. The gyaru clothings I chose there were a nice mix of 'this is not crazy enough as to be considered alt fashion' and 'this is way cuter than anything I can find in normie shops back home'. So, these are the things I got for myself:
Black bunny coat: Secret Honey
Wine pullover, pink top: Igni
Skirt + short: Legit
Socks + legwarmers: Tutuanna
Essas são minhas cores favoritas de vestir, então não tem como elas não combinarem com tudo que tenho no meu armário normal. As blusinhas são bem um reflexo disso, e eu amo que o blusão vinho pode ser usado assimétrico com o lacinho ou com gola canoa e o laço escondido.
These colors are my favorite for wearing, so I don't see why they wouldn't match with all I have in my normie wardrobe. The tops are a reflection of this, and I love that the wine top can be worn assimetrically with the black bow, or with a more normal canoe neckline and the bow hidden.
O casaco peludinho é uma coisa que já tô há anos querendo comprar, talvez não necessariamente com orelhas de coelho e um rabinho, haha, mas depois que eu consegui ele, usei quase todos os dias lá no Japão. É mais do que macio, parece um sonho, e deixa os coords lolita mais completos também!
The furry coat is something I wanted to buy for years, maybe not specifically with bunny ears and a round tail hahaha, but after I got it, I wore it almost daily back in Japan. It is beyond soft, it feels like a dream, and makes any lolita coord more complete too!
O combo de short e saia foi interessante. Eu queria uma saia pregueada que parecesse ko-gal (colegial), mas essas cores combinaram melhor com minhas coisas. Eu pensei que ter um short assim era tosco, porque não gost de usar, mas como peça combinante para usar sob a saia ficou perfeito! Não me senti envergonhada ou com receio de me mexer por conta da saia curta, porque sabia que o short tava lá, então recomendo muito isso. É como usar bloomers com lolita, mas mais discreto.
The skirt and short combo was interesting. I wanted a pleated mini skirt that could look more ko-gal (schoolgirl), but these colors matched my stuff better. I thought owning a short was ridiculous, becase I don't enjoy wearing them, but as a matching piece under the skirt it was pretty much perfect! I didn't feel shy or scared of moving around because I knew the short would get me covered, so I can only recommend. It is the same as wearing bloomers with lolita, but less show-y.
Os itens da Tutuanna tem bem mais qualidade do que eu me lembrava, a meia-calça cor da pele é tão forte e macia que mal parece que estou vestindo algo nas pernas, mas me senti quentinha com elas.
The Tutuanna items are way more high quality than I remembered, the skin-colored tights are so strong and soft, they barely look like I'm wearing anything on my legs, but they kept me warm.
Quero usar tudo isso uma hora com maquiagem, e com alguém que também veste gyaru; espero que dê certo, aí pareceremos com as meninas fotografadas nas revistas Popteen e Egg ^^
I wanna wear the whole set one with makeup with a friend that also wears gyaru; I hope it works out so we can look like girls photographed on the Popteen and Egg magazines ^^
Ah, e o estilo Gyaru no Japão continua forte, não só na internet, mas também na vida real! Recebi autorização para tirar essa foto em dezembro e achei muito legal ter Gyaru de todas as idades!
