A fantastic day at the museum!

O Metropolitan Museum é uma das coisas que mais amo na cidade de Nova York. Ele até aparece em um dos meus filmes favoritos, Oito Mulheres e Um Segredo (Ocean's Eight). Havia uma exposição especial sobre moda, então aproveitei a oportunidade para usar Lolita. Aqui está o que usei ontem para visitar o museu:

The Metropolitan Museum is one of the things of New York City that I love the best. It even shows in one of my favorite movies, Ocean's Eight. There was a special exhibit about fashion so I took the opportunity to dress up in Lolita. Here's what I wore yesterday to visit the museum:

A exposição especial foi chamada de "Belezas Adormecidas: Reacordando a Moda", e era uma coleção de peças do século XVIII até agora. A ideia era mostrar o quão bonitos alguns vestidos antigos eram, como eles sobreviviam ao envelhecimento e também, como alguns não - estes ficariam "dormindo" na exposição, já que não havia outra maneira de exibi-los com segurança.

The special exhibit was called "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion", and was a collection of garments from the 18th century up to now. The idea was to both showcase how beautiful some old dresses were, how they survived aging, and also, how some didn't - these would be laying 'sleeping' in the exhibition, since there was no other way to safely display them.

Como tinha Bela Adormecida no nome, então a famosa música do balé de Tchaikovsky estava tocando a maior parte do tempo ao fundo, e muitas peças de exposição tinham flores (especialmente rosas) como tema. Mas havia alguns outros temas interessantes além de rosas, como cobras e o mar.

Since it had Sleeping Beauty in the name, yes, the famous music from the Tchaikovsky ballet were playing most of the time in the background, and many display pieces had flowers (especially roses) as a theme. But there were some other interesting themes other than roses, like snakes and the sea.

Para mim, foi impressionante ver muitos vestidos históricos fora de um livro de moda. Vê-los ao vivo foi mágico! Um dos meus vestidos favoritos de todos os tempos também estava lá, e eu não consegui me conter, então tirei uma foto boba ao lado dele, hahah ❤

For me, it was striking seeing many historical dresses outside a fashion book. Seeing them live was magical! One of my favorite dresses of all time was also there, and I couldn't contain myself, so I took a silly picture beside it, hahah ❤

Depois de ficarmos encantados com essas belezas, visitamos uma parte do resto do museu. O Met é tão grande que poderíamos passar dias lá e ainda assim seria difícil ver tudo!

After being delighted with such sights, we visited a part of the rest of the museum. The Met is so big we could take days there and still would be hard to see everything!
