Is lolita fashion actually dying?
Tenho um pequeno ataque cardíaco toda vez que leio isso em algum lugar, mas então paro e a resposta simples é NÃO.

A resposta longa, de qualquer forma, envolve uma infinidade de fatores. Acho que a Tyler Willis resumiu perfeitamente em um vídeo de 2017, mas ainda é verdade: Lolita está mais viva do que nunca e, em vez de se concentrar em Jingu-bashi em Harajuku (a ponte famosa), está espalhada pelo mundo todo. Em vez de estar apenas na EGL no Livejournal, você pode encontrar conteúdo lolita em todas as redes sociais possíveis (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Discord, TikTok), em vários blogs e em muitos sites especializados.
The long answer, anyway, involves a multitude of factors. I think Tyler Willis summed up perfectly in a video from 2017, but it still holds true: Lolita is more alive than ever, and instead of being concentrated on Jingu-bashi in Harajuku (that famous bridge) , it is spread out through the whole world. Instead of being only in EGL on Livejournal, you can find lolita content in every social media possible (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Discord, TikTok), in a ton of blogs and in many specialized websites.
Comprar online ficou mais fácil e, mesmo quando as marcas japonesas não entregam diretamente, há muito mais serviços de compras confiáveis e revendedores lolita pelo mundo. Algumas lojas japonesas até têm lojas ocidentais (como a Baby e a AP em São Francisco, a AP em Paris, a revendedora de AtePie na França), e há mais marcas independentes em ainda mais países, em todos os continentes (ok, exceto talvez na Antártida, hahaha). Essas marcas independentes melhoraram em qualidade e são cada vez mais amadas. Basicamente, temos MAIS coisas lolita, em vez de menos.
Buying online got easier, and even when the japanese brands don't ship directly to you, there are a lot more of reliable shopping services and lolita resellers across the globe. Some japanese stores even have western locations (like Baby and AP in San Francisco, the AP in Paris, the AtePie reseller in France), and there are more independent brands in even more countries, in all continents (ok, except maybe in Antarctica hahaha). These indie brands have improved in quality and are more and more loved. It's basically, we have MORE things lolita, instead of less.

Então, por que as pessoas têm a impressão de que a moda está morrendo? Porque está mais disseminada. A verdade é que, com a moda se tornando cada vez mais difundida, você não tem um lugar único para procurar se quiser algo lolita. Você não verá todas as lolitas da sua cidade em um único show, porque nem todas gostam dessa banda. Nem todo mundo está nas mesmas redes sociais, acompanhando as mesmas marcas ou seguindo os mesmos criadores de conteúdo. Nem todo mundo vai a encontrinhos lolita. Você não tem algo que unifique todos os seus seguidores, a menos que estejamos falando da moda em si.
So why do people have the impression it's dying? Because it is more spread out. The truth is that with fashion gradually becoming more and more pervasive, you don't have a single place to look for if you want something lolita. You won't see all lolitas from your city in a single concert, because not all of them like it. Not everybody is on the same social media, checking on the same brands or following the same content creators. Not everybody goes to meetups. You don't have something to unify all its followers, unless we are talking about the fashion itself.
Nós nos vestimos para nós mesmas, não para agradar os outros. Eu me visto só para mim, então é claro que serei diferente das minhas amigas lolitas, e elas são todas diferentes das suas amigas. É a vida. E estamos todas mais fortes do que nunca, nossa moda continua firme e forte!
We dress for ourselves, not to please the others. I dress only for myself, so of course I'll be different from my lolita friends, and they are all different from their friends. It's life. And we are all stronger than ever, our fashion is still going strong!
