Washing an Usakumya ♡

Bath time!

Comprei essa Usakumya em 2021 e ela nunca foi realmente branca, para dizer o mínimo. Resolvi lavar para ver se ficaria melhor. Quero compartilhar com vocês um pouco do processo, para que saibam o que fazer (ou o que evitar) na hora de lavar a sua.

O nome dela é Sophia Fragolina🍓 Essa era a aparência dela antes do banho - as fotos não mostram bem, mas o 'offwhite' parecia um amarelo bem claro.

I bought this Usakumya in 2021 and it was never really clean white, to put it lightly. I decided to wash it and see if it would look nicer. I want to share with you a bit of the process, so you know what to do (or what to avoid) when you are washing yours.

Her name is Sophia Fragolina🍓 This is how she looked before the bath - the pics won't show it well but the 'offwhite' looked like a very pale yellow.

O primeiro passo que você pode fazer é retirar a gola de fita vermelha e renda. Como eu não tinha certeza se a cor ia manchar ou não, deixei primeiro lavar junto, depois vi um pouco do vermelho se mexendo (?) e entrei em pânico. Um corte rápido com a tesoura e a gola de renda deslizou pelo corpo do usakumya.

The first step you could do is to remove the lace + red ribbon collar. As I wasn't sure if the color was going to bleed or not, I let it first be washed together first, then I saw a bit of the red moving around (?) and panicked. A quick snip with the scissors and the collar was slided down the usakumya's body.

Depois de lavar um pouco, resolvi trocar a água. Estava muito sujo :( troque a água com frequência, se precisar! Isso é melhor do que esfregar o bichinhio com muita força.

After a bit of washing around, I decided to change the water. It was just way too dirty :( change your water often, if you need to! This is better than scrubbing the plushie too hard.

Aqui depois da primeira lavagem dá para ver que não está totalmente limpo e tem esse tom rosa claro - não é a cor de mancha do vermelho, mas sim o forro da pelúcia! O meu é rosa por dentro, acho que os Usakumyas rosa e lilás também são forrados com tecido rosa. A maioria dos usakumyas pretos são combinados com azul escuro e vermelho, então eles teriam um forro azul escuro, vermelho ou preto. Nunca vi um pessoalmente. Acho que o mesmo vale para usakumyas marrons e kumakumyas :)

Here after the first round of washing, you can see it's not fully clean and it has this light pink shade - this is not bleeding color, but the lining of the plushie! Mine is pink inside, I think the pink and lavender Usakumyas are also lined with pink fabric. Most of the black usakumyas are paired with deep blue and red, so they would have either a deep blue, red or black lining. I have never seen one in person. I think the same goes for brown and tan usakumyas and kumakumyas :)

Depois de lavá-la novamente, usando um pouquinho de amaciante, deixei a água correr para enxaguar completamente a pelúcia e espremi a maior parte da água. Então abracei o usakumya com uma toalha e deixei a toalha absorver a água. Coloquei ela para secar em cima da minha máquina de lavar, lá é o lugar mais seco da minha casa.

After washing her again, using a small bit of fabric softener, I let the water run to rinse the plushie completely, and squeezed most of the water out. Then I hugged the usakumya with a towel, and let the towel absorb the water. I put her to dry on the top of my washing machine, there is the dryest place from my house.

Tive que deixá-la secar alguns dias. Como o rosto e o capuz são muito grossos, fui secá-los algumas vezes com o secador de cabelo na posição mais fria.

I had to let her dry a couple days. Since the face and hood are very thick, I went to dry them a couple times using my hairdryer on the coldest setting.

E já que tirei a gola de renda, achei que seria um bom momento para tentar algo novo. Sempre quis ver como ela ficaria com fitas rosa! Tirei seus "laços de cabelo" vermelhos e fiz os novos para amarrar nas orelhas. Espero que ela goste!

And since I took off her lace collar, I though it could be a good time to try something new. I always wanted to see how she would look with pink ribbons! I took off her red "hairbows", and made the new ones to tie around the ears. I hope she likes it!
