Mais de uma semana depois da estréia, consegui ir assistir ao filme da Barbie com alguns amigos. Foi isso que eu usei - claro que ROSA para manter o espírito da Barbie!

At least one week after the premiere, I managed to go watch the Barbie movie with some friends. This is what I wore - obviously pink to keep the Barbie spirit!

We met at KdW, where the pink Barbie box was, to takes some cute pictures! I'm really happy Mariza went wearing lolita too ^^

Sobre o filme em si, POSSIVELMENTE COM SPOILERS:

Não acho que o filme tenha sido tão revolucionário ou "de esquerda" quanto algumas pessoas apontaram. Não é um destruidor de lares. Não é um manifesto super feminista. Foi um filme leve, cheio de piadas, com uma abordagem interessante sobre a relação mundo perfeito x mundo real, meninas x suas bonecas, o que é bonito, meninas se ajudando... Coisa normal, legal. Tem um dos cenários mais lindos que já vi, uma trilha sonora bacana, o figurino é INCRÍVEL; há acenos para muitas bonecas Barbie históricas (muitas delas totalmente comentadas nos créditos) e há marcas da vida real fazendo aparições especiais (como Chanel). Adoraria usar metade das roupas que vi a Barbie usar! No entanto, não acho que toda a trama foi tão boa ou que a situação foi totalmente resolvida no final, acho que a menina (Sasha?) e a mãe dela (não consigo nem lembrar do nome dela) resolveram suas tretas meio rápido. No final, foi divertido, mas ainda é um filme de uma grande empresa que quer vender coisas para você - as bonecas e o merchandising.

About the movie itself, POSSIBLY WITH SPOILERS:

I don't think the movie was halfway as revolutionary or "left winged" as some people pointed out. Not a home destroyer. Not a super feminist manifesto. It was a lighthead movie, full of jokes, with an interesting approach on the relation of perfect world x real world, girls x their dolls, what is beautiful, girls helping each other out... Normal, cool stuff. It has one of the most gorgeous backgrounds I've ever seen, a nice soundtrack, the costume design is AMAZNG; there are nods to many historical Barbie dolls (many of them fully commented on the credits), and there are real life brands making special appearances (such as Chanel). I'd love to wear half of the outfits I saw Barbie wearing! However, I don't think the whole plot was so good or that the situation was fully resolved in the end, I think the girl (Sasha?) and her mom (can't even remember the name) beef 'resolved' too quickly. In the end, it was fun, but it's still a movie from a big company that want to sell things to you - the dolls and the merchandising.

O hype sobre o filme foi minha parte favorita. Como uma nerd, que assistiu a muitos filmes de Star Wars, filmes da Marvel e filmes LOTR/Hobbit no cinema, foi interessante ver um grupo totalmente diferente 'se vestindo pra fazer parte' pra se divertirem juntas. Mulheres aleatórias que nunca se conheceram antes se elogiando e curtindo as filas de espera por causa de seu passado compartilhado com bonecas barbie, ou interesse atual pelas bonecas ainda, ou apenas porque era ROSA E FEMININO. Era bom ver tantas meninas curtindo alguma coisa sem preocupações, sabe? ♥

The hype on the movie was my favorite part. As a nerd myself, who has watched a lot of the Star Wars movies, Marvel movies and LOTR/Hobbit movies on the cinema, it was interesting to see a whole different group 'dressing the part' to have fun together. Random women who have never met before complimenting each other and enjoying the waiting lines because of their shared past with barbie dolls, or current interest in the dolls still, or just because it was PINK AND GIRLY. It was good to see so many girls just enjoying something without worries, you know? ♥

Talvez o filme possa ser bom pra trazer algumas pessoas para discutir algumas questões importantes (como igualdade de gênero, ou por que se espera que as mulheres sejam perfeitas o tempo todo?), mas eu não acho que isso é o que a maioria das pessoas gosta, e não acho que as crianças iriam realmente gostar disso. Suponho que alguns adolescentes sim, porque já têm essa ideia de que a vida real dos adultos é bem diferente do que eles imaginavam quando criança.

Maybe the movie could bring some people to discuss some important issues (like gender equality, or why are women expected to be perfect at all times?), but I don't think that's everybody cup of tea, and I don't think many children would actually enjoy the it. I suppose some teenagers will, because they already have this idea that the real life from grown-ups is quite different from what they imagined as a child.

Bônus: Minha mãe me deu essas meias da Barbie antes de voltar para o Brasil. Ela sabia que eu com certeza ia ver o filme, então acho que foi muito querido da parte dela ❤

A propósito, tem muitas lojas que estão fazendo merchan fofo/produtos temáticos da Barbie! Espero que você possa encontrar algo que goste. Ainda estou procurando um lugar com o vestido xadrez rosa...

Bonus: My mom gave me this Barbie socks before she went back to Brazil. She knew I was definitely watching the movie, so I think that was very sweet of her ❤

By the way, there's many stores that are making cute merchandising / Barbie-themed things! Hope you can find something to your liking. I'm still searching for a place with the pink gingham dress...
