Hoje eu quero compartilhar algumas histórias e dicas pra lavar roupas lolita!

Today I wanna share some stories and tips on washing lolita clothes!

Para começo de conversa, é bom a gente deixar uma coisa bem clara: LAVE SUAS ROUPAS. Não caia no erro de usar vezes e vezes a fio sem lavar e vender assim. Além de não cheirar bem, isso também ajuda as roupas a durarem menos tempo, e roupa manchada tem um valor de revenda menor né :P

Just for starting our conversation, let's make something very clear: WASH YOUR CLOTHES. Don't fall for this mistake of wearing something over and over again with no washing and selling it like this. Not only it does not smell nice, it also doesn't help clothes last, and stained garments have a lower resale value :P

 

Tendo dito isso, a outra coisa importante é a gente saber ler aqueles símbolos de lavagem e cuidado que vem nas etiquetas de roupas. Aqui acima tem uma etiqueta de lavagem da AP e uma da Baby. Fiz uma adaptação em inglês e português dos símbolos mais comuns pra facilitar um pouquinho ❤

That being said, the other important thing is to know how to read the washing symbols that come on your garments tags. Here above there's a AP tag, then a BTSSB tag. I made an adaption below in both English and Portuguese to show the most common symbols, to make things easier ❤

Como regra geral: instruções referentes à lavagem tem um símbolo de tina de lavar roupa, as de alvejante tem símbolo de triângulo, de secagem são quadradinhos, de lavagem a seco são círculos e as de engomar/passar tem um ferrinho de passar desenhado. Os símbolos diferentes disso (máquina de lavar, tubo de químico e roupinha com cabide) são as versões antigas, que quase só os japoneses usavam - mas considerando que as burando vêm do Japão e muitas vezes são peças de 6, 10 ou 15 anos atrás, é sempre bom conhecer os símbolos antigos também!

As a general rule: instructions referring to wasthing will look like a laundry tub, bleaching looks like a triangle, drying is square, dry cleaning uses circles and ironing uses a cute little iron. The symbols that diverge from that (washing machine, chemistry tube and shirt on a hanger) are the old one, mostly used by the japanese - but considering that burando is from Japan and many times are pieces that are 6, 10 or even 15 years old, it is always good to know the "vintage" laundry symbols too!

Pra você ter uma ideia de por que é importante seguir as instruções, isso é o que acontece com uma cutsew da AP que tinha como regra "água à no máximo 30 graus" e "não usar a secadora de roupas" e não foi lavado de acordo:

Também te deu dor no coração ver isso? Pra mim também. Guardei essa blusa por meses na esperança que eu fosse me animar e pintar por cima, recuperando de alguma forma a camiseta estradada, ou tirando toda a estampa e usando com um cutsew preto liso com um acréscimo de gola branca, laços ou algo assim... Mas perto da hora de eu me mudar, acabaram me convencendo a jogar a blusinha no lixo. Eu chorei mas guardei a tag, carrego ela geralmente na minha carteira ou nesse álbum de fotos...😔

Did it also made you feel pain in your heart, seeing this? I kept this top for months in the hopes I was going to get motivated to paint on top of the destruction, to restore it somehow, or even maybe removing the print and wearing it as a plain black cutsew with an added on white collar, bows or something like that... But when I was about to move, I was convinced to throw it away. I cried a bit but kept the tag, I carry it usually in my wallet on in this photo album...😔

Enfim... Esses símbolos já nos dão uma ideia boa, mas mesmo assim tem algumas roupas que podem ser lavadas à mão MAS que soltam tinta / que as cores mancham outras peças. Se você nunca lavou essa peça em especial antes, é bom fazer um teste (truque do paninho úmido / papel ou lencinho) numa área escondida da peça (ex, lado de dentro de um laço, ou numa parte interna do shirring).

Anyway... This symbols already give us a good idea, but even so there are a few pieces of clothing that, despite being able to be handwashed, will end up bleeding or staining other pieces. If you have never washed this thing in particular, it is nice to do a test (a trick with a wet piece of tissue or fabric) in a hidden place of your piece (for example, the inner side of a bow, or an internal part of the shirring).

Uma amiga, a Jaque do blog Dama do Cerrado, fez faz não muito tempo um post maravilhoso e completíssimo sobre como lavar roupas lolita. Tá cheio de dicas valiosas, mas as minhas duas favoritas são:

• Tire os acessórios na hora de lavar sua peça. Ou seja, waist-ties, broches, fitinhas, o que for - remova, e se for algo que pode ser lavado, lave separadamente.
• Vai lavar na máquina de lavar? Use um saquinho para roupas delicadas (uma fronha também pode ajudar caso você não tenha um saquinho)

A friend, Jaque from the blog Dama do Cerrado, posted not really long ago about washing your lolita clothing. It is amazing and super well-written, full of precious tips. My two favorites go below:

• Take off all the accessories when you're going to wash it. It means, waist-ties, brooches, ribbons, whatever - remove them, and if they can be washed, do it separatedly.
• Are you gonna use the washing machine? Use a bag for delicate clothing (a pillowcase can help if you don't have this delicate laundry bag)

Nesse dia de lavar as coisas, eu lavei esse vestido à mão. Repare como as cores parecem mudar quando está úmido! Esse método de secagem é o "na horizontal", eu coloquei com uma toalha por baixo pra ajudar a secar melhor. É um jeito bem delicado de secar uma roupa, muitas vezes elas até aguentam ser penduradas mas assim é mais cuidadoso. Já as waist ties, neck ties e uma outra fita que eu achei no meu bolso, eu lavei separado e pendurei junto com as toalhas.

On this laundry day, I washed this dress by hand. Notice how the colors seem to change when it's wet! This drying method is the "horizontal" one, "flat dry". I put a towel under to help it dry better/faster. It is a nice and delicate way to dry a garment, even if they can stand being hanged on a line, this is many times better for them. And the waist ties, neck ties and a random ribbon I found on my pocket, they were washed separatedly and I hung them with the towels.

 

Não vou fazer isso com todas as roupas lolita de uma só vez, mas é bom poder fazer esses cuidados extra para manter minhas roupas queridas em bom estado e sem manchas ou cheiros. Para algumas pessoas do meio lolita, ficou parecendo que a Angelic Pretty fez essa estampa, Sunny Smile Laundry, quase como uma piada interna ou incentivo pras pessoas lavarem suas roupas fofas...

I'm not gonna do this with all my lolita clothing at once, but it is good to make these extra care steps to make my dearly loved pieces in a good shape, without stains or smells. For some people in the lolita community, it seems that Angelic Pretty made this print, Sunny Smile Laundry, almost like an internal joke or an incentive so people wash their cute dresses...
