Então, como eu tinha planejado comprar um JSK preto e branco oldschool, pensei que talvez eu pudesse costurá-lo... Mas como não sou muito boa para costurar a parte de cima do vestido (por causa da área do peito, do shirrig nas costas, alças, ah, tudo) decidi que seria melhor usar algo que já tenho. Esta é a minha vítima:

So, I have been planning of buying an oldschool Black and White JSK, I thought that maybe I could sew it... But since I'm not especially good at sewing the top part of the dress (because of the chest area, shirring, straps, oh, everything) I decided that it would be better to use something that I already have. This is my victim:

Eu considero esse forro muito bom. Não só porque é bem feito, sem costuras bagunçadas ou fios pendurados, mas também porque é um vestido liso de algodão, ao invés de forro de poliéster. Isso se tornou a base do meu novo vestido:

I consider this lining to be really good. Not only because it's well made, no messy stitching or hanging threads, but also because it's a plain cotton dress, instead of a polyester lining. This became the base of my new dress:

Infelizmente nunca consigo chegar às lojas de kurzwaren/armarinho a tempo que ainda estão abertas, então fiz acontecer com o que encontro em lojas baratas como TEDi e KIK, já que ficam abertas até 7 ou 8h da noite.

Unfortunately I can never get to the kurzwaren/haberdashery stores on time they're still open, so I make do with what I find on cheap stores like TEDi and KIK, since they're open until 7 or 8pm.

Então... Vou explicar um pouco mais depois de mostrar o resultado. Com exceção da renda branca nos babados, toda a renda foi costurada à mão.

So... I'll explain a bit more after showing you the result. Except from the white lace on the ruffles, all the lace was hand sewn.

Eu terminei de costurar esse vestido dia 23. Uma das coisas que acelerou o processo foi usar meu tempo dentro dos transportes (ônibus, trem) para costurar.

I finished sewing this dress on the 23rd. One of the things that accelerated the process was to use my time inside transportations (buses, trains) to sew.

Essa combinação de preto, branco e rendas de algodão é absolutamente nostálgico pra mim. ❤

This combination of black, white and cotton lace in a lolita dress is absolutely nostalgic to me. ❤

As alterações também não aparecem no "lado de fora" original do JSK, então é uma situação em que todos saem ganhando.

The modifications also don't show on the original "outside" of the JSK, so it's a win-win situation.

Ao adicionar minhas próprias rendas e enfeites ao vestido, tive que aprender um pouco no processo. Para os babados da barra do vestido, achei que calculei certo (largura da bainha x 2), prendi tudo no lugar com alfinetes só para descobrir que era pouco tecido para fazer os babados. Mesmo que o resultado seja um JSK lolita oldschool bem amador, já é melhor do que muitos vestidos baratos e estranhos que usam renda de náilon e uma construção questionável.

On adding my own lace and trimmings to the dress, I had to learn a bit in the process. For the ruffles in the bottom of the dress, I thought I calculated it right (width of the hem x 2), pinned everything into place just to find out it was too little fabric to make it ruffly. Even though the result is an amateur oldschool lolita JSK, it's already better than many cheap weird dresses that use nylon lace and a questionable construction.

Se você parar pra ver, mesmo que os vestidos lolita tenham um visual impressionante demais, a construção em si não precisa ser super complicada. A maioria dos vestidos tem um corpete/corpinho justo e uma saia franzida. O que faz a diferença geralmente é o quão bom é o tecido, a estampa ou apliques nele, se tem babados e folhos em algum lugar, se tem waist-ties ou elástico franzido atrás, o quão bem costurado é, como é a qualidade dos enfeites, fitas e rendas, todos os detalhes legais.

If you think about it, even though lolita dresses have an overwhelming look, the construction in itself doesn't need to be super complicated. Most dresses have a fitted bodice and a gathered skirt. What makes the difference is usually how nice the fabric is, the print or appliques on it, if it has ruffles and flounces somewhere, if it has waistties or shirring, how well it is sewn, the quality of the trimmings, ribbons and lace, all the nice details.

A ideia era ter meu vestido oldschool sem estourar o orçamento, e achei que também era uma boa oportunidade para testar minhas habilidades. Além disso, não preciso de espaço extra no armário, porque o vestido já estava lá, certo? Meu vestidinho reversível com certeza poderia ter melhorias, principalmente na fita de amarrar na frente (a parte mais fácil de trocar, sem descosturar nada), mas já é um começo.
Acho que valorizamos mais as coisas que vestimos se paramos para analisá-las e, porque não, tentar fazê-las ou consertá-las nós mesmos. ♥

The idea was to have my oldschool dress without breaking the budget, and I thought it was also a nice opportunity to test my skills. Plus, I need no extra room in my closet, because the dress was already there, right? My little reversible dress could absolutely have improvements, especially in the lacing ribbon (the easiest part to change, without tearing it apart), but it's a start.
I think we value more the things we wear if we take our time to analyse them, and, why not, try to make them or fix them ourselves. ♥
