O livro que eu escolhi para mostrar hoje é o Gothic&Lolita, da editora Phaidon.

The book I chose to show you today is the Gothic&Lolita, from Phaidon.

Esse livro é meio antigo, foi publicado em 2007. A imagem da capa dele já apareceu em muito blog lolita na internet, provavelmente você já viu. Mas várias imagens dentro também já circularam muito na internet!

This book is kinda old, it was published in 2007. The image on its cover has popped up in many lolita blogs at the time, you've probably seen it already. But many images inside have also been in many websites!

Gosto muito desses outfits mais oldschool / tradicionais em Lolita! Estou colocando as fotos aqui sem nenhuma ordem particular.

I really like these more oldschool / traditional lolita outfits! The pictures I'm uploading here are in no particular order.

É muito interessante também ver o contraste dos outfits super fofos com os visuais gothic super pesados ou com cortes e materiais super diferentes.

It is very interesting to see also the contrast between super cute looks with the heavy gothic outfits, or with very unusual cuts and materials!

Eu AMOOOOO esse look com uma BJD (uma Dollfie?) usando roupinha igual... Acho que dava pra escrever uma matéria só sobre lolitas fazendo twin com suas dolls!

I LOOOOOVEEEE this look with a BJD (a Dollfie?) wearing the same clothes as her owner... I think I could write a whole essay just about lolitas twinnig with her dolls!

Outra coisa que acho super interessante são as fotos de quarto. Algumas pessoas (lolita, gothic ou qualquer outro estilo) abriram seus quartos e/ou ateliês pra fotos. Sou especialmente fã da segunda foto, com a menina chamada Marin, que aos 13 anos de idade tem toda aquela coleção de coisas fofas. Se eu pudesse escolher, estaria me vestindo assim aos 13, num quarto fofo todo temático.

Something else that I find really interesting are the room pictures. Some people (lolita, gothic or any other style) opened their rooms and/or ateliers for pics. I'm especially keen on the second photo, with the girl called Marin, that at 13 years old has all that collection of cute things. If I could choose, I'd be dressing up just like this at 13, in a very cute themed room.

Já esses coords lolita abaixo me fazem pensar muito numa outra moda parecida, Otome-kei. Pra mim, esses outfits são algo que mistura as duas modas majestosamente. É como uma lolita mais.. quirky (não sei traduzir isso! Criativa?). A menina usando Gothic Lolita também está linda!

These lolita coords below make me think of a similar fashion to lolita, Otome-kei. For me, these are outfits that mix both fashions majestically. It's like a...quirkier lolita (cannot translate that to portuguese, though). The girl wearing Gothic Lolita is also lovely!

Esses são alguns dos outfits lolita que eu gosto menos. Nunca fui muito fã dessas gravatinhas em lolita, mas hoje em dia elas não são mais comuns. E o outro visual, da esquerda, parece que tem algo estranhos nas proporções... Acho que cintura baixa não fica bem em quase ninguém, na verdade.

These are a couple of the lolita ouftits that I like the least. I've never been a fan of the chub little neckties in lolita, but nowadays they're not that common anymore. And the other visual, on the left, it feels something is off with the proportions... I think low waist clothing doesn't look good on anyone, truly.

A Melody Doll foi uma estampa lançada nessa época (2007), uma das primeiras prints famosas, e tem muitas meninas nesse mesmo livro usando diferentes cores desses vestidos!

Melody Doll was a print released around that time (2007), one of the first BIG famous prints, and there are many girls in that book wearing different colors of that dress!

Amo demais esses dois looks, sem tirar nem por nada!

Eu não sei nem classificar isso. Esses vestidos (?) na direita são pra ser um headdress gigante transparente? Eca Espero que elas tenham se divertido fazendo essa roupa, pelo menos.

I can't even classify this. These dresses (?) on the right are supposed to be maxipad headdress, but see-throug? Ew I hope they had fun making these clothes, at least.

Outros dois outfits gracinha! Esse vestido da BTSSB (na direita) é um dos primeiros que percebi ser uma estampa com várias cores (ao invés de serigrafia). Detalhe especial, o enfeito do chapéu dela parece uma asinha de Card Captor Sakura!

Two more cute outfits! This dress from BTSSB (on the right) is one of the first prints with multiple colors (in opposition to screenprinting). Special detail, the thing on her hat looks like a wing from Card Captor Sakura!

Também gosto muito desses outros dois looks abaixo. A da esquerda parece um ero-lolita, ou alguma coisa incrível e maneira que eu usaria pra ir num show do Nightwish. Adorei! O vestido de veludo na foto da direita ia se beneficiar de ter uma anágua igualmente boa...

I also like those two looks very much. The one on the left looks like an ero-lolita, or something amazing and cool that I'd wear to a Nightwish concert. LOVE IT! The velvet dress on the right pic would benefit from wearing the same petticoat as the other girl...

Essa menina tem um atelier! Bom, ao menos me deu a impressão de que ela fazia algumas das próprias roupas, por causa do manequim.

This girl has an atelier! Well, at least it looks to me that she makes some of ther own clothing, because of the dressform.

Por fim, queria mostrar esse outfit da esquerda. A menina diz que a "obsessão atual" dela é Heidi (há!) e acho que o vestido dela tem uma vibe muito Dirndl, o que eu também adoro. Ia adorar adaptar isso pra um outfit mais estruturado como Lolita mesmo. Não tenho opinião sobre o cara na direita, haha.

At last, I wanted to show this outfit on the left. The girl says her "current obsession" is Heidi (há!) and I think her dress has very Dirndl vibes, which I also love. I'd love to adapt it for a more structured lolita coordinate. I don't have an opinion of the guy on the right, haha.

O legal de olhar um livro assim é ver um retrato de como as coisas eram em outras épocas. A maioria das pessoas parece ter uma maquiagem mais amadora (em comparação com as pessoas super ninjas da maquiagem e cílios postiços de hoje em dia), quase não aparece perucas sendo usadas, e de certa forma tudo parece mais livre e leve - menos perfeito, mas mais autêntico. Não é como uma foto perfeita para o Instagram, mas também dá gosto de se ver. ❤ E você, o que achou desses looks ou desse livro?

The cool thing about looking at a book like this is to see a portrait of how things were in other times. Most of the people seem to have a more amateurish makeup (in comparison with the ultra ninja makeup artists and people with fake eyelashes nowadays), there almost no wigs bein worn, and somehow everything seems more free and careless - less perfect, but more authentic. It is not like a perfect Instagram picture, but it is also a pleasure to see. ❤ And you, what do you think of these looks or this book?
